Flower Piano, San Francisco

This Walk was moved to September 19 because the forecast rain was 50% on the original day of the walk.

As part of our new COVID-19 protocols, walkers must sign up on our NEW myHPREC website in advance and supply their emergency contact information electronically.  This is necessary to avoid close contact on the day of the walk and to make sure the maximum of number of walkers for each session is 30 (including the walk leader).

Meet at: San Francisco Botanical Garden Main Gate, 1199 9th Ave, San Francisco at 10 am. Buy your ticket at the Main Gate and meet inside the gate.

Hike Location:  Flower Piano is a special event at San Francisco’s Botanical Garden.  Twelve pianos are placed in the garden to be played by volunteers.  The garden covers 50 acres of Golden Gate Park with plants from around the world.  There are three different cloud forests, a redwood grove, succulents, and more.  We plan to see and hear many of the pianos.  Should our leader be too attracted to the succulent garden, you are welcome to move on to a nearby piano.

Driving Directions: Take I-280 to 19th Avenue, San Francisco. Turn right at the first street after Lincoln Way on to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, which becomes 9th Avenue.

Paid parking may be available in the two connected garages under the California Academy of Sciences and the De Young Museum.  The connection is underground.  Free parking is throughout Golden Gate Park, but may be a long distance from where we are meeting.

If you want to cancel your reservation/sign up:
Call or send an email message to the event leader and inform the leader of your cancellation. (janjimholl@yahoo.com or  call Jim Holl at 408-446-2963)
