Hike – Quail Hollow Ranch in Felton

Meet at one of two places:

  1. Carpool from Los Gatos at 9:20 am., Northside Parking Lot on CA-9 between University and Santa Cruz Avenues. Sign reads: “Free Unlimited Parking – Northside Lot.”  Take CA-17 south toward Los Gatos.  Exit at CA-9 Los Gatos/Saratoga and continue west on CA-9 for 0.3 mile to the parking lot on your right, just before Santa Cruz Avenue.

  1. At Quail Hollow Ranch County Park at 10 am. If you drive directly, take CA-17 south from San Jose toward Santa Cruz.  Exit CA-17 (exit 3) at Mt. Hermon Road to Scotts Valley.  Turn right onto Mt. Hermon Road.  After 3.5 miles, turn left at the stoplight onto Graham Hill Road.  Then go .25 mile and turn left at the stoplight onto East Zayante Road.  Go 1.9 miles and turn left onto Quail Hollow Road.   The Quail Hollow Ranch unit entrance is 0.6 mile on the right (watch for sign).  The address is 800 Quail Hollow Rd, Felton, CA 95018.

The hike begins at Quail Hollow Ranch County Park at 10 am.

Quail Hollow Ranch’s 300-acre space offers scenic trails, majestic vistas and abundant wildlife.  Located in Felton, it is also home to one of the best local examples of a sandhill habitat with four species of plants found only in this environment:  The Santa Cruz wallflower, Ben Lomond spineflower, Ben Lomond buckwheat, and the silverleaf manzanita.  The hike will have a 600-foot elevation gain and has several vistas.  There are picnic tables about two thirds of the way through our hike.
