a.  I noticed a Chatbot symbol on our Club’s home page. Is it safe to use?

Yes. The HPREC Chatbot is designed to help members quickly find general information about the Club, its activities, membership, and website content.

The Chatbot does not have access to HPREC’s private membership database or individual member information. It cannot look up or disclose your membership record or other private member data.

As a general precaution, you should not enter sensitive personal information, such as passwords, financial information, or other confidential information, when using the Chatbot.

b.  Is there a recommended way to phrase my question to get a successful answer?

Yes. Ask a clear and specific question, much as you would ask another HPREC member for help. You do not need to use special commands or keywords.

For example, instead of asking:

“What activities are there?”

try:
“What HPREC activities are scheduled for this month?”

Or instead of:

“Membership?”

ask:
“How do I renew my HPREC membership?”

If the first answer isn’t what you were looking for, try rephrasing the question or adding a little more detail.

c.  When did the Club start using this feature?

HPREC introduced the Chatbot in May 2026 as another way to help members find information about the Club on our website.

We welcome suggestions for improving it. If you have comments or suggestions, please use this Contact HPREC link that also can be found on the HPREC home page.

d.  Can anyone on the Board see who is asking questions through the Chatbot?

The Chatbot does not have access to HPREC’s membership database, so it does not identify a person asking a question by looking up HPREC member information.

The Chatbot service does collect usage analytics. HPREC is not currently reviewing or analyzing individual questions submitted by members

Nevertheless, members should avoid including private or sensitive personal information in their questions.

e.  What if I cannot find the information I’m looking for?

The Chatbot is intended to make it easier to find commonly requested HPREC information, but it may not be able to answer every question.
