Walk – Pacifica from Rockaway Beach
Meet at the regular carpool location* at 9:10 am, or at the walk location at 10 am.
We will start the hike at Rockaway Beach, not the Pacifica Pier.
If you drive there directly, drive northbound on I-280, take exit 47 to merge onto CA-1 South toward Pacifica. Continue on CA-1 about 2.5 miles past the Pacifica Pier. Turn right on Rockaway Beach Avenue. Cross Old County Road, then turn right at Dondee Way to the free public parking on the right side, across from Rock’n Rob’s hamburger restaurant (conveniently located near public restrooms). For additional free parking, continue to the end of Dondee Way and turn left onto San Marlo Way. We will meet in front of Rock’n Rob’s.
The coast between the Pacifica Pier and Rockaway Beach is dotted with city, county, state, and national parklands. The walk will be about 2.5 miles and will provide beautiful photo opportunities. We should be hitting peak wildflower season.
The walk will be hillier than our typical walk with a couple of slightly treacherous, steep sections. Be sure to dress in layers.
