Sunnyvale Community Services

Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS) is an independent, nonprofit, emergency assistance agency. Their mission is to prevent homelessness and hunger for low-income families and seniors facing temporary crises. They provide financial aid, food and other support that[user_id] prevents larger problems with more expensive solutions. You can help. SCS needs 10 to 12 HP Retiree Volunteers at their Kern Avenue location to help pack dried goods that SCS can distribute to families with school-age children. It’s part of SCS’s Children’s Summer Nutrition Program. Our help is crucial.

If you have had close contact with anyone that has a confirmed case of COVID-19 or with anyone who has been in isolation for COVID-19, please refrain from volunteering at this time.

Date & Time: Friday, June 23, from 10 am – 12 noon.  Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before start of shift to allow time to park and check in.
Place: Sunnyvale Community Services, 1160 Kern Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94085
Please enter the property at the “Entry” driveway and park at the back of the building in any spot NOT marked “Client Parking Only.”

Entry: Once parked, the Volunteer Entrance is at the southeast corner of SCS’s building, near the exit from the parking lot. (Please avoid walking or cutting through SCS’s loading dock area as there is a steep 5-foot drop below.)

Attire: Closed-toed shoes are required; please no high heels. Dress appropriately for the season as the work may be indoors or outdoors. Leave purses and bags locked in your trunk as SCS does not have secure storage space.

Upon arrival you will be asked to check in following SCS’s COVID Protocol:
1. Show proof of vaccination and booster. You can either show SCS a paper copy of your vax record or information on your phone. You can download a digital copy using: https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/
2. Wear a KN95 mask. (SCS will provide one if you do not bring your own; please try to bring your own as SCS has a limited supply.)
3. Fill out and sign COVID Checklist.
4. Visit SCS’s no-touch temperature scanner.
