Meet at one of two places:
- Carpool* from our regular location at 1501 Page Mill Rd, Palo Alto at 9:30 am
- At Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve, 3901 Alpine Rd, La Honda, CA 94020, at 10 am
If going directly to the hike site, take Page Mill Road, cross Skyline and turn right into the Russian Ridge parking lot.
The Ipiwa trail is a lovely, single-track trail with expansive views over the Santa Cruz Mountains, about half shade and half exposed. There is a little information center at Alpine Lake with picnic tables for our lunch. Sunny Jim Trail is a service road.
This is the second time that we have hiked the Ipiwa Trail, Alpine Lake Loop, Sunny Jim Trail, and Horseshoe Lake. It is about 4.0 miles and 770 ft. climbing.
If we feel energetic, there is a possible extension to Borel Hill with great views over the Bay Area. It would add an additional 2.1 miles, 310 ft.
