Coyote Hills East Bay Regional Park Hike

Walkers/Hikers must sign up on the myHPREC website in advance and supply their emergency contact information.  Registration also requires acknowledging current Covid protocols and HPREC non-liability for participants.  Each session is limited to a maximum of 30 participants (including the walk leader).

Meet at the NEW carpool location*, or if you would like to meet at the hike site it is the Coyote Hills East Bay Regional Park which is located at 8000 Patterson Ranch Rd., Fremont, CA 94555. Take Hwy 84 across the Dumbarton Bridge to Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont.  Go about 1.2 miles north on Paseo Padre, then turn left onto Patterson Ranch Road.  Go through the entry kiosk, where there is a $5 parking fee, and then park at the visitor center.

Bring water, snacks, picnic lunch, sunscreen, layered clothes, light hiking boots or shoes.  Also bring $4 for your driver plus your portion of the parking fee and your portion of the bridge toll

Hike: The East Bay Regional Park adjoins the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge and offers trails in marshes, grasslands and hills.  The planned route includes the hills and some wetlands.  This route can be taken in the wettest conditions.  The hike is about 3.5 miles and takes about 2 hours.  This hike is a moderate hike with an elevation gain of about 300 feet.  Dogs are not allowed on this hike. The hills are too steep for wheelchairs.  Restrooms are available at the beginning and end of the hike and also at the Dairy Glen.  You may eat your lunch after we return to our cars.

We expect to see raptors, shorebirds and a few migratory bird species.
