As part of our new COVID-19 protocols, hikers must sign up on our NEW myHPREC website in advance and supply their emergency contact information electronically.  This is necessary to avoid close contact on the day of the hike and to make sure the maximum of number of hikers for each session is 30 (including the hike leader).

Meet at the NEW carpool location*, or if you would like to meet at the hike site: Exit Hwy 92 West toward Half Moon Bay from I-280.  Turn left on Hwy 1, travel south to Pescadero Road.  Go inland on Pescadero Road for 2.6 miles through the town of Pescadero to Cloverdale Road and take a right.  After 4.2 miles, turn left onto the entrance road for Butano State Park. The entry kiosk has a $10 parking fee ($9 for seniors) or you can use your State Parks Pass.  Our hike begins at the picnic/parking area on your right.

Hike: This hike was last taken in 2018.  Some of the trails used then are currently closed, so this will be a new route.  Note that there is a lot of shade available in this park.  The steep terrain along Little Butano Creek prevented the usual 19th century practice of clear cutting, so some old-growth redwoods and fir are mixed in with the very rapid second growth.

If you want to cancel your reservation/sign up:
Call or send an email message to the event leader and inform the leader of your cancellation.  (kpm5000@aol.com or call Klaus Model at 617-515-6895)
